FLAX ART GRADUATE RESIDENCY PROGRAMME1. INTRODUCTIONFlax Art Studios Graduate Residency Programme provides an opportunity for a young artist to make the transition from art student to professional practitioner in a safe and stimulating environment. This Residency is awarded to recently graduated students who have displayed innovation and creativity in their practice. Please note that the October 2010 Flax residency is not open to applicants who are continuing as a student in full time education through PGCEs, Masters or Phd courses of study. The programme is designed specifically for recent graduates wishing to enter the professional art world to build contacts, networking, profiling and exhibition opportunities. The Graduate Programme offers free studio space for one year including free access to the studio's facilities plus ongoing support and advice from more established artists, curators, gallery directors and international artists. In 2003 The Golden Thread Gallery hosted an exhibition to celebrate 5 years of the Graduate Programme.
1st October 2009 to 30 September 2010 Robert Anderson, 2009 graduate of the Master of Fine Art course at the University of Ulster Helena Hamilton, 2009 graduate of the BA Honours in Fine and Applied Arts at the University of Ulster.
3. APPLICATIONS DEADLINE 15 May 2010 for the residency beginning on 1st October 2010 and running until 30 September 2011. Please email the Flax Studio Manager at flaxartstudios@gmail.com with the location of your degree show in the University of Ulster so that the selection panel can view your work.
