STUDIO MANAGER

PART TIME (16 hrs per week flexible inc. occasional unsocial hours)

Key tasks
Management, Development and Support for Flax Art Studio Members

To work with the Board in managing and developing premises, resources and facilities of Flax Art Studios.
To lead on health and safety and to update all on relevant policies and procedures.
To assist with financial management processes
To coordinate development and training activities in relation to workshop facilities and other skills useful to studio members.
To be responsible for office administration and act as the first point of contact for the organisation.
To support studio members in the delivery of residency programmes.
To maintain a central electronic diary for the organisation.
To manage and update the organisation’s database system.
To work with the Board in managing the studio and support, supervision and appraisals processes.
To seek funding and pursue opportunities from a variety of sources to assist with the long term development of the studios,
Recording – Administration, Planning and Reporting

To maintain accurate and up to date records and provide routine information and reports as required by the Board including the role of Company Secretary, recording minutes of the Board meetings.
To be aware of health and safety issues and report any concerns or incidents and to provide up to date information on health and safety policies and procedures to the Board and studio members.
To assist the Board with strategic planning processes.
To work with the Board to ensure the implementation of all policies and procedures and quality standards as required by Arts Council or other funding bodies.
To provide staff / studio members with relevant information in relation to premises, stock, resources and facilities.
To draft relevant reports and information to the Board in a timely manner for internal use and for dissemination to funders .
Communications – Relationships, Support and Networking

To act as the primary contact for Flax Art Studios
To work closely with the Board and studio members
To maintain good working relationships with colleagues in the statutory and voluntary sectors and with all other relevant bodies.
To maintain good quality and ongoing internal communications with studio members, international residents and graduate residents by a variety of means
To work to advocate for and empower the visual arts sector in general and Flax art in particular
To promote studio member involvement across the organisation.
Development – Training, Supervision and Awareness

To attend relevant training courses and conferences as required by the Board.
To be aware of the needs of studio members and residents.
To participate in and contribute to studio and Board meetings.
To fully participate in the support and supervision of studio members accessing workshop equipment.
To undertake all other duties as deemed necessary that falls within the grade and remit of the post.

POST DETAILS


Job title: Studio Manager
Hours: 16 weekly hours for 6 months [with a view to extension to permanent post reviewed annually if funding becomes available]
Core working hours are negotiable but expected to be during office hours Tuesday to Friday

TERMS OF YOUR EMPLOYMENT


Probation: Your appointment is subject to a three month probation period.


References: Your appointment is subject to receipt of two satisfactory references.


Criminal records checks: Due to the nature of the duties that you will be required to undertake, you will not be required to undertake an Access NI check at this time. Should the nature of your duties change, an Access NI check may be necessary.

Travel: You may be required to travel during the course of your duties, with possible overnight stays away from home.

OUR FINANCIAL OFFER


Full salary range £10 per hour for 16 hours per week [ Flax Art will explore opportunities to find a suitable spinal scale to fit this post]

Contractual pension: Available after completion of your probation period. Individual choice of contribution with a minimum of 3%. Contributions are enhanced by Flax Art Studios by 3%

National Insurance contributions: Covered from your date of commencement Flax Art Studios will pay employers National Insurance contributions for the period of employment.


Association sick pay: After probation period and within the first 12 months of employment (if post extends beyond initial 6 months period), up to 3 weeks at full pay. After 12 months employment, 6 weeks at full pay.

OUR NON-FINANCIAL OFFER


Annual leave Pro rata equivalent to 25 days per leave year.


Approved leave Study leave, compassionate leave, dependants leave.


Bank and statutory holidays. 24th December (if it falls between Monday and Friday).


Flexible working: Flax Art Studios would anticipate that this post would require a flexible approach to working hours. This can be arranged to suit the employee as well as the studios to accommodate varying levels of needs and commitments across the 6month period with the opportunity to review at the end of this period should the post be extended.


Sabbaticals: Available after completing 5 years continuous service.


Social events: Local social events are held periodically.


Fundraising Opportunities available to participate in fundraising events (optional).

Volunteering: Opportunities available to volunteer at fundraising events (optional).
